For Enterprise accounts, Playable offers configuration options that enable compliance with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

When an email recipient opens an email containing a video, Playable uses IP Address data to adjust the video content, based on the geography and local time of day of the viewer. For example, viewers located in different regions of a country can receive different variations of a video. Or, the video can be varied based on whether a viewer opens the email at breakfast time or lunchtime.

The same IP Address data is also used for aggregate geographical and local time-of-day reporting.

In some parts of the world, IP Address is not considered personal data. However, within the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) considers IP Addresses to be personal data.

To comply with a policy of not storing or processing personal data, Playable offers the option for Enterprise accounts to discard all IP Address data that is received when an email recipient opens an email containing a video.

To configure your account to do this, please reach out to support@playable.video
