Before you start
You’ll need:
A Playable account with videos ready to export
A Klaviyo account to export to
A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge) and a stable internet connection
Connect Klaviyo to Playable
You can start from either Playable or Klaviyo.
From Playable
Log in to Playable and go to the My Account tab.
Under Connectors, click Connect to Klaviyo. This opens the connector dashboard.
From the Klaviyo App Marketplace
Search for Playable in the Klaviyo App Marketplace and click Install.
Log in with your Playable account credentials.
Then, on the dashboard:
Click Connect to Klaviyo.
On Klaviyo’s authorization page, review the permissions Playable is requesting. The app appears as playable-ui.
Click Allow.
You’ll be redirected back to the dashboard, and the status turns green and says Connected to Klaviyo.
Tip: If the connection fails, make sure you clicked Allow and that pop-ups are enabled in your browser. To disconnect later, open the dropdown next to the connection status and choose Disconnect from Klaviyo.
Choose a channel type
Use the Channel type dropdown on the dashboard to choose the type of campaign you’re working on. Right now only Email is supported, and other channels will come in future updates. Once you select Email, your videos appear in a table.
Each video has a status tag so you can see where it stands:
New: the video has never been exported, or was deleted from Klaviyo.
Exported: the video exists as a Universal Content Block in Klaviyo.
Export a single video
Find your video. You can use the Search bar to find it by title, and the Play button to preview it.
Click Export next to the video.
For a video you haven’t exported before, you can rename it (optional), then click Confirm.
If you’ve already exported the video, you’ll see two options:
Create New makes a new content block. You can give it a new name.
Override Existing updates the existing content block with the latest embed code. Choose this if the video has changed in Playable. You can’t rename it here.
Export several videos at once
Tick the checkboxes next to the videos you want.
Click Export Asset.
Choose how to export:
Override Existing updates content blocks that already exist and creates new ones for videos not yet in Klaviyo.
Create New makes a new content block for every selected video, even if it was exported before.
Click Confirm.
Find and use your content blocks in Klaviyo
Log in to Klaviyo and go to Content → Universal Content.
When you build an email, open the Universal tab in the editor and drag your video block into the email.
Content blocks are reusable, so you can use the same one in as many emails as you like.
Tips
Name videos clearly. Include the campaign or video name so blocks are easy to find in Klaviyo.
Preview before you export. Check you’ve picked the right video.
Override doesn’t rename. To change a block’s name, export it again with Create New.
Added a new video? Click Refresh on the dashboard to sync it from your Playable account.
Test before you send. Send a test to the email clients your audience uses before you launch.
Troubleshooting
I can’t see my videos after logging in. Log out of the connector and log in again.
I can’t export my videos. Check that the status says Connected to Klaviyo.
The Export Asset button is greyed out. It becomes active once you’ve selected a channel type and ticked at least one video.
I can’t use other channels like SMS or WhatsApp. Only email campaigns are supported for now.
The name didn’t change after I exported. Override Existing only updates the embed code. To rename a video, export it with Create New.
The connection to Klaviyo is failing. Make sure you clicked Allow on Klaviyo’s authorization screen and that pop-ups are enabled in your browser.
The video preview isn’t playing. Check your internet connection and browser version, and clear your cache if needed.
My new videos aren’t showing. Click Refresh to sync the dashboard with your Playable account.
